The Legacy–
House of Color was founded in 1973 by Gary G Hanson. Gary successfully built House of Color into what you see today, one of Bismarck/Mandan’s premier flooring retailers. Gary started House of Color with the dream of building a successful business and legacy for his family. House of Color was initially started with a paint department, which is still operating strong today. Gary progressed and grew the business into interior solutions. Gary spent many years designing projects for customers, both residentially and commercially.
In June of 2024, Gary Hanson took the path of retirement. While he successfully operated House of Color for 50 years, it was time for Gary to focus on other things. We wish Gary all the best and are so thankful for everything he did to build the legacy we have today!
The New-
In June of 2024, due to retirement, House of Color was purchased by Brad Bosch, Dave Scherr and Matt Schauer. Many clients are familiar with one, two, or all three of these men as they have been dedicated employees to House of Color for more than twenty years.
Brad Bosch will serve as House of Color’s President. Brad is very knowledgeable in the industry and has been with House of Color for many years. Brad specializes in commercial project management and design and heads up our Starnet division.
Dave Scherr will serve as House of Color’s Vice President. Prior to this role, Dave was general manager. Dave is responsible for making the wheels turn. He acts as a liaison between clients and installers, and is the master scheduler.
Matt Schauer will serve as House of Color’s CFO. Prior to this role, Matt was serving as store manager. Matt is well-versed in both commercial and residential design and project management. Matt is also our master of all things technology.
We are truly blessed to embark on this NEW and EXCITING journey as we make a transition to a NEW version of House of Color- while keeping the principals you have all come to know for over 50 years!
